I interviewed Clayton of prairie country duo Kacy & Clayton in December, and he mentioned in response to a question about Kacy's hometown that "nobody lives there anymore". I wrote it down right after the interview, and wrote the verses into a folksier-than-usual little number (to honour the source material) including a title that repeats as a kind of tag.
I ripped the E-drone intro from a Paul McCartney tune on "Chaos & Creation in the Backyard" (don't remember which one), and then used a variety of samples of things around my yard to fill ambient space and manufacture some percussion sounds.
What's this! This song completes the trio, and has a couple lines that are just a little bit sexy, and it's also pretty politically bent.
This one came together the easiest of all three of em, and got a couple quick edits after debuting it at Rockin 4$ at The Buckingham sometime in January.
